Missouri Parks AssociationThe Missouri Parks Association is a state-wide group of volunteers who achieve the preservation and improvement of Missouri's State Park system through research, education and civic action. This contributes to increased public understanding and enjoyment of Missouri's abundant natural and cultural treasures. MPA members also work with the Governor's Task Force on issues pertaining to the Missouri State Park system, which shows the state-wide respect garnered by the organization. The MPA was instrumental in developing Missouri's State Park system and continues to play a vital role in maintaining the important health and recreational roles the parks have in the lives of millions of state citizens. For example, the MPA runs the "Missouri Passport Program" with the Missouri State Parks department. The program distributes brochures, pamphlets and other helpful information on our state parks to visitors and prospective visitors alike. This helps make the parks more appealing and accessible to the citizens of Missouri and the rest of the country. Missouri Parks Association works to improve public parks for the benefit of all. The health of Missouri residents is enhanced by good parks, trails and green spaces. The parks' green plants cool, filter, refresh and cleanse the air. Non-polluting recreation opportunities promote and enable healthier lifestyles along with an improved overall quality of life for humans. The value of public parks for pure relaxation and enjoyment cannot be overstated either; parks provide this non-quantifiable benefit to numerous Missourians year-round. Lots of web site resources are online to help you learn more about parks in and around Missouri:
